Most of the time, I write about problems immigrants have with US immigration officials, but this week I heard from an American in Valencia, Spain who had her purse snatched right after arriving. Gone were her credit cards, cash, and, most importantly, her passport. Immigration Lawyers Blog Has Just Posted the Following:
The California Service Center (CSC) will hold a tour of its facility in Laguna Niguel, California, for HR personnel involved with filing immigration cases for their workers. The tour is on March 11, 2010. It will begin at 12:15PM and end at 1:00PM. From 1:00PM to 2:30PM, CSC officers will meet with the visitors and answer questions. The topics will include best practices for filing and advice HR professionals should give their foreign workers. Please let us know by March 5, 2010 if you'd like to attend and we can arrange your visit.

My wife received Appt. letter for FP second time. It mentioned that first time FP didn't pass thru FBI check, se she need to come again at no cost. Is this normal and did it happen to any one? We are in Atlanta.

APs are taking twice as much as EADs. Does anyone has any idea why?

I just want to count how many are left.
How many EB2(India) with PD current still waiting for AOS, pl post here
post your info in the following format
1. Your PD:
2. Current Status: [RFE Submitted/Initial Review/Final review/printing] etc
3. Service Center:
4. Category: EB2 Only please.
5. Country of Chargeability: India only please.
Note: My advise to all those whose PD is current for more than 6months, to go ahaed and file a writ of mandamus. It will get you instant results. :cool:

I have a question regarding dependants. I have a L1A Visa. I am going on a long trip to UK next month. Can my dependants stay back for 2 -3 months before joining me in UK. Their L 2 Visa and I 94 are valid till Feb 2009.

Hi All,
My Green card Priority date is April 2004 under EB3 category.
I-140 was approved 1yr back and I-485 applied in August 2007.
Where to check the current processing dates and when will we receive Green card?
Any idea still howmuch time will it take to get GC for the people with above PD date?
Do i need to check the URL https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp?

Employment based I485 is pending and priority date is not current, and wont be current until we have cars that fly. Have valid advance parole from EB I485. Plan to file a family based I485 next month and wait for receipt notice and then travel out of country.
Is it possible to return to US on the advance parole from EB I485 after filing FB I485? (Application for a second advance parole based on for the FB I485 will be pending as it takes ~3 months to process AP).

My h1-b is expiring in decemeber, i applied for renewal 4 months back but it is stuck in security check. I can apply for 485 as my 140 is approved.
1. if i apply for 485, then EAD can also go thur sec check?
2. after 240 days if EAD is not available what are my options?
3. I am planing to get married but cant bring wife on h4 as my h1 is not current, what are my options? if my 485 get approved or i use my EAD i wouldnt be able to bring her?

so, between my external attorney and in-house immigration people at place that I work for (through H1B, no less!), they have managed to lose the I-131 that was approved very recently. External lawyer has received it and sent it to our internal people, and from that point nobody know where it is.
What are my options (other than praying)? How long will it take for USCIS to reissue (or reprint) an I-131? Is there a fast method for this?
